At Animal Care Center, our diagnostic skill and technology are paired to provide excellence in pet care. We collaborate as a team, to share our knowledge and experience in identifying the source of patients’ problems and develop a treatment plan customized to their needs.
Our hospital offers an excellent on-site veterinary laboratory. We perform laboratory tests during wellness exams and when your pet is ill, injured, or preparing for surgery. Laboratory tests may include:
- CBC (complete blood count)—Measures the number of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets to diagnose infections, anemia, and leukemia
- Chemistry panel—Measures electrolytes, enzymes, and chemical elements such as calcium and phosphorous levels to determine if organs are operating properly
- Urinalysis—Detects presence of protein, sugar, white blood cells, or blood in urine to diagnose urinary tract infections, diabetes, dehydration, kidney problems, and more
If pet cancer is suspected, we offer a blood test to detect malignant cells for a variety of types of cancer. When a pet is scheduled for surgery, we perform laboratory tests to identify any risk of complications from anesthesia. These tests may be recommended for all patients, including young, healthy pets.
Our digital X-ray technology provides superior diagnostic details, improved image quality, computerized enlargements, and enhancements. Digital dental X-rays are invaluable in diagnosing developing problems in small animal companions.
Endoscopy allows us to see the patient’s internal organs by inserting a long, flexible tube into the body. The endoscope contains a video chip to capture images for viewing on a video monitor. With endoscopy, we view internal tissue without performing invasive surgery. We are able to insert instruments through the tube as well, to remove tissue for biopsy. The endoscope can be inserted into any body cavity, including the mouth, lungs, rectum, and nose, or even the joints for arthroscopy.
We offer the services of a specialist that comes to our hospital to perform ultrasound diagnostics. Ultrasound is technology that uses very high frequency sound waves to create an image of internal organs and tissue. It is painless, noninvasive, uses no radiation, and is safe for delicate tissue like the retina, the spinal cord, and developing fetuses.
Advanced Diagnostic Imaging
We offer MRI and CT scanning at outside facilities as needed, for accurate diagnosing of intervertebral disc herniation or protrusion and other neurologic diseases.
